Ruud Koopmans (1989) is a documentary photographer based in Berlin. He developed his expertise through self-study and participation in a conceptual documentary photography seminar led by Michael Grieve at the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie.

Through his images, he conveys a poetic sense of delay, creating moments that feel stretched and suspended in time, with a thoughtful approach to composition.

Living in the chaos of Neukölln, where serenity, stillness, and unhurried moments are rare, Ruud advocates for a slower future through his photographs, inviting reflection and inspiration. Drawing inspiration from the ancient Greek notion of kairos, Ruud explores the concept of time in his photography. In urban environments, where clock time dominates our lives, he seeks out moments that disrupt this linear flow, capturing brief moments that transcend the usual bounds of time.
